Pond water
plants for the garden pond
When buying garden pond plants check with the retailer ... how fast they
grow and how big they will become. When small, water plants can be very
misleading.
Low cost water plants
tend to grow big - a very general statement of course but bear it in
mind. They are low cost because they grow quickly need less care and
maintenance by the water plants grower. Floating water plants make
excellent pond water nutrient scavengers.
Plants and algae (which are after all plants of a sort growing and
multiplying by virtue of the photosynthesis process) in a pond compete
for the available nutrients in the form of phosphorous and nitrogen
containing chemicals. It follows that the more pond water plants there
are then the greater the probability of reducing algae blooms.
Old and well planted stable
garden ponds as a result tend to suffer less from algae problems than
newly created young ponds.
